Subject:  Native look harmful to swing's rep?

Just a thought on making java apps look truely native. Right now java apps stand out because they look like java apps. Once java apps look native enough they'll be tought of as native. This means that it won't change the common perception of swing unless we explicitly say that it is swing. Non-native lafs that look great and polished are IMO the best chance for java's reputation on the client side to improve.
I think we have to get rid of the perception that swing uis suck before we fool everyone by looking close enough to native. If not then people will assume its being written in C# or VB.
That said, I think its much more likely that swing will shake the suckage rap before we look fully native, especially with alot of the improvements that seem to be going into mustang.
