Are you crazy? Java 1.6 is one of the best thing that Sun did, is much more faster and stable than 1.5, and JRE 1.6 is 100% compatible with Java 1.5 codes and applications. Now you say that many stick with 1.4? What world do you live? Java 1.4 is a mess and very slow, and swing is a crap on 1.4. Without Java 1.6 my company will never use Java to it's softwares due speed and stability. For me Java 1.6 is a bless.
