I had the idea to use XML to represent the layout of Swing component, and posted it here: http://soronthar.blog-city.com/read/182037.htm And hacked an implementation that can be found at : http://sourceforge.net/projects/xmlgridlayout/ Because time constraints I haven't been able to continue working on this (or improving the documentation).
