Make Your Swing App Go Native, Part 1

I've found that people distinguish between different types of applications. Web apps have a very different look than desktop apps. Traditional desktop apps (things that create, edit, and save data) look very different than, say, media playing apps.

The real question is what will people accept for webserver / network enabled apps. Will that be a desktop app with the standard native UI or will it be crazy like MP3 players. I think people start with webservices on webpages, since it's easy to get started. Just create an account and go, no installation. But if it's a service they like they'd want greater desktop integration and a native (feeling) app. Think RSS readers.
