Trails is really quite nice. After getting the example app going, I just dropped in my model objects and all the CRUD came right up.
There will never be a way to address the compile cycle overhead, but the app is really fast once pages have been cached. Development on the framework is clearly active, with recent work to get it going on Maven2. To me, not using M2 is a deal breaker, and I honestly woudn't have even tried Trails if it wasn't working on M2. It's not that I can't just try the app with Ant, but then what?
