Licensing the JDK under the GPL would be a disaster for developers using this platform. The sad reality is that most people don't understand the GPL, and they think that it's the way to go because its what the Linux Kernel in licensed under. The reality is that the GPL is a horrible solution for development libraries. Please, Please don't use the GPL.
