The GTK LAF doesn't work perfectly for me either. Insets, calculations for text heights and widths don't seem to work properly. As a result, the tops and bottoms of text is sometimes chopped off, and components are way too wide and throw off the visibility and usability of an application. Yet all other Sun-provided LNFs render the same application (ScheduleWorld) perfectly. Perhaps 1.5...
