E.g., say you have a navigation menu for your site on the left hand side. If you choose one of the menu items, you want to disable it or highlight it in some way while you're in that section. I asked a while back in the OpenSymphony mailing list and they said basically "doesn't do it" although you could hack it by comparing URLs w/ parameters...
