I use Java for most of the things.
Beanshell is good for many quick tasks, graphics.
I would like to know what is the quick and easy scripting language to develop GUI's.
I played with F3, somehow not yet comfortable with that its style.
And I use Python for Robotics and Machine Controlling, and Java Swing as front End.

I'm excited about what things I can do with the new scripting support in jdk1.6.

I mostly use freeBASIC (http://www.freebasic.net).
I like the Q(uick)Basic-replacement for DOS, Win32 and Linux. :-)
For non-Objectorientatet things and things for sime function-drawings it is perfect, I think.
Btw: Is nobody out there who use D (http://www.digitalmars.com/d/index.html) ?
Or anybody who use bsh (http://www.beanshell.org/) ?

JavaScript and Ruby

I haven't voted twice, but both JavaScript and Ruby are common for me these days. JavaScript because of browsers. Ruby for other scripting. I like (J)Ruby over Groovy because it exists in both Java and non-Java versions and has a larger crowd, more history, and more documentation. I could be efficient in Groovy since I can call Java APIs, but to be efficient as scripting, I need to learn the custom API extensions. By that time, learning Ruby APIs and learning Groovy APIs are similar levels of effort. If Groovy tool support gets good enough (and performance too) that it can start replacing Java itself, then it will get more attention from me.

Its perl for scripts of up to 20 lines, else I refer to use Java. I also have sometimes to use C (mostly at work)

Perl for pretty much everything. Oracle->DBI->munge.
It's so much quicker for development. even with multiple classes, etc. :-(
Java for bigger projects, or for complex stored procedures.
