Perst Lite, an open source, object-oriented embedded database for Java ME (J2ME)
2008-06-13 10:19:48
Perst Lite, an open source, object-oriented embedded database for Java ME (J2ME), has been upgraded to version 3.0. Memory and storage footprint are major concerns for developers in Java ME. Perst Lite adds powerful on-the-fly compression in version 3.0 that reduces stored data’s size by three to five times, on average. Coupled with the database system’s already-small footprint, this compression adds another compelling reason for developers to choose Perst Lite for data management on smartphones, PDAs and other small-profile devices. Version 3.0 marks improvements in the Perst’s documentation. McObject has added a concise new 38-page Tutorial and Introduction that guides users through the embedded database’s features and design principles, using both explanation and code examples. Sections range from the basics – such as creating, opening and storing objects in a database – to advanced topics including schema evolution and database replication.Get more information on Perst
Lite 3.0 here and Download the new version.

Update on server outage
2008-06-03 03:18:54
Looks like the cross-posting between mailing lists and forums is up again. The www.mobileandembedded.org address however is still dead and not being redirected - the provider is still working on it.
Alert: Server failure affects M&E redirect and cross-posting
2008-06-02 08:55:24
Just in:
There has been a catastrophic disaster at the hosting center that hosts the www.mobileandembedded.org redirect as well as the server that handles the cross-posting between all java.net forums and community mailing lists. As such, cross-posting currently is non-functional and to access the Mobile & Embedded home page and site please go directly to http://community.java.net/mobileandembedded/.
Every effort is being made to restore the servers as quickly as possible. Thanks for your patience.
