Unwanted Modeling Language: Martin Fowler writes about the disdain for UML among various communities in Unwanted Modeling Language . Fowler writes that those interested in UML for sketching are not really interested in UML 2 and that the MDA people are not much interested in UML either. The Latest Status of Version 2 of the UML
With six months left before its release, Granville Miller takes a quick look at The Latest Status of Version 2 of the UML . In the past, standard support was not specified. "Since the levels of implementation were often uneven, transferred models often lost something in the translation. This new version defines thirty-eight compliance points." But for now only the kernel is required. In addition, Miller identifies problems with scalability in the new version, too much flexibility in conformance, and finalization of the core that is shared by three independent specs: Infrastructure, Superstructure, and MOF Core.
