JGrid:Jini as Grid Technology
"Future grids will be pervasive, invisible, and provide access to a wide range of services, at any time and from a variety of electronic devices. Future grids will also be used not only for high-performance computing tasks, but also for carrying out business, and assisting society and individuals in many aspects of everyday life." This is the motivation for the JGrid project described in Zoltan Juhasz's article JGrid:Jini as Grid Technology that appears in the current Newsletter of the IEEE Computer Society's Task Force on Cluster Computing.

Load Testing with Apache's JMeter
You have a web application that works fine on your local machine when you and a few co-workers use it. How will it scale? Kulvir Singh Bhogal and Javid Jamae write about Load Testing with Apache's JMeter in their recent DevX article. The JMeter elements they cover in their article are Thread Groups, Timers, Listeners, and Target Web Page. They provide a simple example that you can run as you follow along their description.
